We are delighted to appoint Mr Michael Waller as the new Head of Secondary at JESS from September 2019.
A fully qualified teacher, Michael has an outstanding international pedigree holding a number of leadership positions in Australia and most recently Hong Kong. For the past four years, he has been Head of Secondary at an International School in Hong Kong where he managed several school improvement initiatives that led to an increase in academic results and formal accreditation from the Council of International Schools.
As well as a passionate and experienced educator, Michael is also a keen sportsman having played rugby for Hong Kong at international level and now coaches school rugby teams. He will be joined in Dubai by his wife and young son.
Speaking on his appointment, Michael said, “I was drawn to the JESS mission as it strongly aligns with my own. I believe that effective relationships between staff, students and parents is the most important factor in a school’s success. I hope I can bring to my new role, my past experiences in Hong Kong and continue to build on the excellent success of JESS Secondary.
The search for this key appointment attracted a number of excellent educators from across the world who underwent a rigorous interview and selection process, explained Mr Shane O’Brien current Head of Secondary and the New Director from September. “Michael’s experience and knowledge will ensure that JESS maintains its strategy of academic excellence and holistic education in a not for profit community setting where pastoral care is vital to academic success.
“I am delighted to welcome Michael and his family to JESS. With his experience, he will be an asset to our school and I look forward to introducing him to our community and working with him on my team.”
