New Governors Join the JESS Boar

As we start the new academic year, Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) has appointed two new members to its Board of Governors. We also take this opportunity to bid a fond to a long-term governor, Mr Robin Padgett.
Mrs Sarah Shaughnessy and Mr Morten Sorenson are appointed to the Board from September 2022 and bring with them extensive knowledge of education, marketing, customer behaviour and information technology.

Mrs Shaughnessy is the head of customer intelligence and online marketing at Emirates Group. In her role, she is responsible for managing digital customer experience programs end-to-end. Sarah is a parent of two children attending JESS, one of whom has learning differences and is a great believer in inclusive education and the potential of all learners. |

Mr Sorenson is the Chief Operating Officer at 360 Holding, a local Emirati group focused on Education and Information Technology. Morten has over 15 years’ experience in the GCC, mainly in the construction sector. He has practiced the vertical integration process to optimize cost and create synergy between departments to deliver projects catering for all stakeholders needs. Morten is a family man and has two daughters who both attend JESS. |
Mr Stuart Walker, Chair of the Board of Governors, has this to say on the changes,
“Sarah and Morten are both heavily invested in JESS as parents and I am delighted to welcome them to the governing body at JESS. They offer valuable skillsets that will further enhance our Board and ensure we offer the best strategic guidance and financial management for JESS.”
“I would also like to say a fond farewell and thank you to Mr Robin Padgett who has been an active board member since 2006. Robin has served as a Governor for JESS for over 15 years and has been an invaluable member of the governing body.”
As a not-for-profit school, the Board of Governors is ultimately responsible for the conduct of JESS. In addition to providing the long-term strategy for the school, the Board also appoints and holds the Director to account for the management and performance of the school. The Board of Governors consists of individuals appointed on a voluntary basis and willing to contribute their time plus personal and professional skills to JESS.
