Debentures
As the school is a non-profit making organisation, all children are required to have their place at JESS supported by a debenture. There are two types of debentures available: Corporate and Personal.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING AVAILABILITY
We regret to inform you that we are currently full, with over-subscribed waiting lists in most year groups. However, if you are a Corporate Debenture Holder or an Emirati National, you may apply to our join our waiting lists.
Owing to the high volume of applications we receive; we are unable to respond to applications other than from Emirati Nationals or Corporate Debenture Holders.

Additionally, we regret that we are unable to accept applications to join Years 11 and 13 due to the two-year GCSE and IB Course Structure.
Corporate Debentures
HISTORY
Corporate Debentures were sold to companies who chose to support JESS on a long-term basis by investing in the initial building of the schools. In return for this commitment, we offer their eligible employees priority on our waiting lists and the option to apply to JESS even if the waiting list is closed. Corporate Debentures are no longer available for purchase.
ELIGIBILITY
When applying to JESS the onus is on the parent to confirm Corporate Debenture eligibility with their company HR department. Debenture companies set their own eligibility criteria within their organisation and it is solely their decision to nominate employees who can use their debentures. JESS will reconfirm the eligibility and availability with the company HR department at the time an assessment is offered. If the parent is no longer eligible to use a Corporate Debenture the application will be placed on the personal waiting list as per the date of application.
ACCEPTANCE & USE
Once a Corporate Debenture is allocated to a child it remains with them until they leave JESS, or whilst the parent remains employed and eligible with the Debenture company. A Corporate Debenture cannot be used to prioritise another child. A separate debenture is required for each child.
For full details of the corporate debenture rules, please see the RELATED DOCUMENTS section.
Personal Debentures
Personal Debentures are AED20,000 at both schools. Personal Debentures are not payable until a place is offered, cannot be purchased in advance, and give no priority on the waiting list.
ELIGIBILITY
Upon receipt of a Personal Debenture application, the child will be added to the personal waiting list, by date of application, until a place becomes available and can be offered.
ACCEPTANCE & USE
When offered a Personal Debenture place, the school deposit must be paid within 5 days of the date of the offer, and the Personal Debenture paid in full prior to the child starting school. Personal Debentures remain in place whilst the child is enrolled and refunded only when the child leaves* JESS.
Please note that if less than the required one term's notice is given, the Personal Debenture will not be refunded until the end of the following term.
For full details of the personal debenture rules, please see the RELATED DOCUMENTS section.
*Although the Constitution states that personal debentures are repayable in the year 2076 at Jumeirah, or 20 years from the date of issue at Arabian Ranches, the current practice is to repay the Debenture once the child has left JESS. The Debenture is then re-issued to the next Personal Debenture applicant. A personal debenture would also be refunded if a previously accepted offer is later declined.
