HEAD OF SECONDARY
Secondary Education
A JESS secondary education builds on the love of learning instilled at primary and provides the opportunity for students to flourish in a caring environment that challenges them to seize opportunities, make the most of their potential and be ready to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.
Our secondary school is based at Arabian Ranches where students follow the National Curriculum for England which is enhanced with a broad range of extracurricular activities, student leadership opportunities, sports, music and performing arts programmes.
Secondary can be challenging for students and our pastoral care is on hand to help them navigate any hurdles along their journey. Our student support and counselling team, known as Oasis, is available to respond to the individual needs of students, offering support as well as an extension for those who require additional assistance.
Key Stage Three (Years 7-9)
These are the first years of a JESS Secondary education where students have multiple teachers and are taught a broad range of subjects and an independent learning style is encouraged. Our dedicated Transition team will ensure students are eased into their Secondary journey with various activities and events from taster days to buddy programmes.
At the end of Year 9, students will choose what subjects they wish to study in Key Stage 4 (years 10 to 11) These decisions are based on our GCSE Option Choices Booklet.
Key Stage Four (Years 10-11)
This is a two-year study programme that leads to GCSE exams at the end of Year 11. All students study up to 9 GCSE qualifications. Course selections are structured to ensure students study a range of subjects that give a strong foundation for the different Sixth Form pathways offered at JESS.
JESS Sixth Form (Years 12-13)
In the Sixth Form, students continue their holistic JESS educational journey, embarking on a two-year pathway filled with challenge and reward. Students can choose between two pathways, the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme or the BTEC Plus programme. Both routes will see students develop greater independence and grow into confident, self-motivated individuals, equipped with a deep sense of responsibility and the skills to navigate both their academic and personal lives.

Campus and Facilities
Arabian Ranches is the largest of our sites. It brings our three schools primary, secondary and sixth form together in one campus, nestled in the heart of the Arabian Ranches community.
Built in 2005, the campus offers several outdoor covered spaces and playgrounds along with an Amphitheatre and courtyards to enjoy performances.
The Islamic inspired design ensures all classrooms are kept cool and offer walkways across the school providing windows onto our extensive sports fields with real grass pitches.
Through the eyes of…
We know that children who choose a JESS education discover a love of learning that ensures they can make a difference the world. Our Through the Eyes series of videos showcases some of our students and staff and shows their perspective on JESS.
